The
process
Each one begins as a beautiful pencil drawing, showing how the mechanism
will work, and where the tea leaves go in. With custom designs,
you will have the opportunity to request slight changes to the design
or to specify what stones you would prefer.
Once
the design is approved, Kevin begins forging the piece by hand out
of Sterling silver. Other than the chain, no manufactured pieces
are used in the assembly - every piece is created from raw materials.
After the silver shell is complete, he artfully drills hundreds
of holes to allow hot water to flow in and steep the tea leaves.
He
then creates the caps, sets the stones, and adds any silver or gold
embellishments using a variety of difficult, ancient techniques.
Each tea infuser is then tumbled for many hours to harden the metal,
making it as durable as possible for regular use.
Finally,
your infuser will be polished and custom-packaged in a silvercloth-lined
box that will protect and display the piece for years to come.
The
moment you receive your infuser, you will know why tea accessory
collectors believe that a cup of tea truly can be a work of art.

Muse Magazine recently interviewed Kevin and did a lengthy piece
describing his process in detail. Click
